The Ten Best Beauty Looks From The Met Gala

The first Monday in May is the Super Bowl of fashion.  The Met Gala gives celebrities a chance to wear avant garde pieces typically reserved for the runway.  Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams co-chaired this year’s event, whose theme was “Art of the In-Between” to honor Rei Kawakubo and her label Comme des Garçons.  Many celebrities brought their A game last night.  While it was difficult, we managed to narrow it down to the ten best beauty looks from the Met Gala.

Adwoa Aboah looked stunning from her head to her toes with a dramatic Conner Ives earpiece and his swan duster coat, and fuchsia Manolo Blahniks.  With such a statement piece, the model opted for a natural look.  Pat McGrath makeup was used to show off her beautiful freckles and her shimmering gold lids played well off her shiny nude lip gloss.

Gigi Hadid had a lot going on with her asymmetrical champagne TOMMYxGIGI dress – including both fishnets and tulle.  Her freshly dyed brown hair in a messy updo that matched her dress wouldn’t work for many but this supermodel pulled it off.  The perfectly drawn black cat eye and nude lipstick were the ideal amount of makeup for her outfit.  Notably absent on her arm was longtime boyfriend Zayn Malik.

Kendall Jenner’s barely-there La Perla dress may not have been everyone’s cup of tee, her lipstick was perfect.  If it seems like that color was custom made for her, it was!  She chose Estée Lauder: Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Carnal, which she helped create over two years ago.

Blake Lively glittered in a gold Atelier Versace dress that ended in a train of blue feathers.  The feathers matched husband Ryan Reynold’s tie perfectly, who gushed about his wife and mother of his children on Humans of New York.  Her ponytail and makeup were flawless.  Gisele Bündchen and Candice Swanepoel also opted for stunning ponytails.

Jennifer Lopez looked old school glam in her sky blue Valentino.  It was a dramatic departure from her last Met Gala appearance in 2015 when she left little to the imagination in Atelier Versace.  Her skin was absolutely glowing – we don’t know if it’s from makeup or her first red carpet appearance with new boyfriend Alex Rodriguez.

Stella Maxwell shared an unexpected designer with Nicki Minaj, H&M!  Strands of pearls covered the semi-sheer silk dress.  Kristen Stewart’s girlfriend picked the ideal hair style to show off the dress and the model’s stunning backside – a pulled back and twisted updo.

Lupita Nyong’o has an eye for picking brightly colored dresses that look amazing on her.  This red carpet was no exception – she picked a gorgeous strapless coral Prada with beautiful hand cut organza flowers.  The perfect compliment to her dress was the technicolor rainbow of bold hues across her eyelids.

Chrissy Teigen’s Marchesa gown mixed with feathers, lace, and mesh will likely end up on many Pinterest dream wedding dress boards – and for good reason!  The model, cookbook author and social media aficionado’s slicked back hair (with darling hair clips) and glowing makeup allowed for the dress be the focus.  The secret to her glow was the soon to be released Chrissy Teigen x BECCA Glow Face Palette.

Behati Prinsloo accessorized her strappy pale pink dress from Topshop – Britain’s most notable fast fashion brand that fellow Victoria’s Secret Candice Swanepoel also wore – with more than 180 carats of Harry Winston diamonds.  Her long hair was the perfect cross between the tight curls from Hollywood years ago and today’s popular beachy waves.  It was also a welcome break from the straight lobs spotted all over the red carpet on stars like Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian West, Kylie Jenner, and many more.

And of course… Rihanna.  The Barbados beauty was the undisputed winner of the Met Gala.  It’s hard to believe the dress comes from Comme des Garçons’ Fall 2016 runway when it seems like it was dreamed up for Rihanna.  Using blush for both her cheeks and eyes somehow works perfectly on the singer that was a fun throwback to draping from the 70s.  Her perfectly manicured fingers were painted in robin egg blue nails were Red Carpet Manicure Gel in Insta Famous and topped in gold foil.
